Introduction

Rammus, the Amordillo is a late game tank with a lot of CC and the speed to make Sonic cry. He boasts a thornmail-like ability in his kit, the "Thousand Year Taunt" and an AOE damaging ability that can turn an entire teamfight in his teams favor. A good rammus will look to snowball his teams lanes ahead or countergank the enemy jungler with all the CC he has and will become an unkillable taunting machine in the teamfight phase

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Spiked Shell

Rammus permanently has bonus attack damage equal to 25% armor.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Powerball

Rammus tucks into a ball and begins to roll for up to 7 seconds, losing the ability to use basic attacks or use Puncturing Taunt but amplifying his movement speed by an additional 20% each second, up to a maximum 140% increase

Upon colliding with an enemy, Rammus Airborne icon knocks back all nearby enemies, dealing them magic damage and Slow icon slowing them for 2 seconds afterwards, also ending Powerball in the process.

Powerball can be canceled instantly by reactivating the ability, or 1 second after activating Defensive Ball Curl

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Defensive Ball Curl

Rammus drops into a defensive stance for 6 seconds, gaining bonus armor and magic resistance, as well as dealing magic damage to enemies whenever they use basic attacks against him.

Activating Powerball ends Defensive Ball Curl's effects after 1 seconds.

E – Masochism

E – Puncturing Taunt

Rammus taunts the target enemy and reduces their armor

R – Sadism

R – Tremors

Rammus creates an earthquake around himself for 8 seconds, dealing magic damage to nearby enemies and enemy structures each second for the duration

Our Top Counter Tips For Rammus

Like most tanks, Rammus isn't actually a tank early, and by virtue of his passive, he doesn't do much damage early either. Playing a heavy counterjungler like Lee Sin or Elise means that you can put him behind really easily

Defensive Ball Curl has a long cooldown, and when it's inactive Rammus has lower stats than most other tanks. This is a rare time when killing the tank is easy. Preferably with ranged champions though, so that no one gets taunted.

Rammus will spend the early game stacking armor because of how important Thornmail is to him. This means that champions that do a large amount of magic damage make him vulnerable, forcing him either to delay his thornmail, and thus a lot of damage, or to be not-very-useful against the damage he has to tank.

Champions That Counter Rammus

LeeSin Zac Counter Champion

Lee Sin

Lee Sin kills him early, peels him with Dragon's Rage and can kick his carries into your team. Until Rammus gets a decent amount of armor, Lee Sin abuses this guy with burst and execute damage and high early game pressure on his lanes.

Nidalee

Nidalee

High burst magic damage with a large amount of mobility with a strong early game. Rammus can't compete with her, she'll just kill him a lot early, then pressure his laners into losing lanes and snowball the game

Udyr

Udyr

This guy's just a good counterjungler. He can take Rammus' camps and kill Rammus too, and in the time it took him to do that, Rammus would have only been halfway done with the camp in question. He can keep up with Rammus and has the option to do a lot of magic damage, totally bypassing the fact that Rammus loves armor, or opt for Turtle stance and completely ignore the minor damage Rammus does in the early-mid game

Kindred

Kindred

Kindred just hurts. Nerfs or not, Kindred really hurts. She also can just kite for a long time, by the time that Rammus can taunt her in a one on one, the fights practically over. The early game is just a pain, and in the teamfight phase, she can run down Rammus' ultimate timer with her own ultimate, mitigating at least a part of his damage.

Build mixed protection. Armor for his passive damage, and MR for his ultimate, he won't do a lot of damage later on, at least not in comparison to the AD Carries, but in the mid game he can actually be a powerful damage threat. Buying at least a spectre's cowl is worth the cost to reduce the damage done by the Thornmail he'll buy early as well.

Introduction

Warwick is a midgame ganker with high sustain and a variety of build paths thanks to his ability to utilize on hit effects with high effieciency thanks to his ultimate applying on hit effects. Warwick also has high chase potential with his Blood Scent, enabling him to finish off low health targets. He is a strong dueling champion thanks to the innate lifesteal in his kit, making one on one fights typically heavily tilted in his favor.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Eternal Thirst

Warwick's basic attacks deal bonus magic damage and heal him for the same amount.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Hungering Strike

Warwick swipes at the target enemy, dealing magic damage and healing himself for 80% of the damage dealt.

Against enemy champions, Hungering Strike's base damage changes to a percentage of its target's maximum health if it's higher than the flat damage

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Hunters Call

For 6 seconds, Warwick gains bonus attack speed and grants half of that bonus to all nearby allies

E – Masochism

E – Blood Scent

Warwick gains Sight icon sight of all nearby enemy champions with less than 50% of their maximum health, also alerting them to his presence.

While any enemies are revealed this way, Warwick gains bonus movement speed

R – Sadism

R – Infinite Duress

Warwick blinks to the front of the target enemy champion and channels for 1.5 seconds, suppressing them for 1.8 seconds and dealing magic damage 5 times in 0.3 intervals. Warwick gains 30% Life Steal for the duration, and each damaging strike applies on-hit effects.

Our Top Counter Tips For Warwick

Buy a Banshee's Veil. Aside from the resistances that you'll probably need for any other champions on the enemy team, it also forces him to walk up and break the spell shield before he can ult you successfully

Warwick can't gank effectively before level 6, you can use this time to snowball lanes as the jungler, or pressure your enemy laner

Quicksilver Sash removes the supression from Warwicks ultimate, you can use this to make yourself an invalid target

Buying/Taking anything with grevious wounds such as ignite or Mortal Reminder makes Warwicks life hard as it reduces his ability to regenerate health

Champions That Counter Warwick

Olaf

Shyvana

She's basically just WW but better. Minus the easily remedied CC that Warwick offers. She scales hard and can gank at level 3. Not hyper effectively, but better than Warwick. Also, she doesn't mind farming up like him, and has a larger teamfight presence with her ability to peel WW off of a carry with her own ult

Zac Counter Tips

Zac

Zac just makes Warwicks life bad. He has high base damages and can stop Warwicks ult with the two built in knockups he has. He's better at engaging teamfights and can snowball the lanes at level 3+.

Jax Tryndamere Counter Champion

Gragas

He can cancel WW's ult really easily, and get him killed with his high amount of CC. He can gank at 3, and can survive a 1v1 against WW for a long time when built as a tank. Gragas is a peeling machine, but his clear speed is a little worse with the recent nerfs. Definitely a pick to specifically counter a champion

Introduction

As you walk through the jungle towards your blue buff, you notice that there’s a key teamfight on the other side of the map. You start your teleport, noting who’s low on health and what you might have to protect yourself from.Suddenly, you hear a low “WOOHAA” and a monkey comes out of nowhere, spinning like a Beyblade. You fly into the sky, only to land straight in the path of his staff. In less than a second, you’re dead. 5 seconds later, your toplaner is dead.

Wukong is a fighter with powerful utility and high base damage. He’s good in wombo combo compositions and is good in early skirmishes.

In order to stop Wukong from killing you out of nowhere, you need to know how to exploit his weaknesses. In this guide, I’ll be teaching you to deal with this monkey.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Stone Skin

Wukong gains armor and magic resistance for each enemy nearby.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Crushing Blow

Wukong’s next auto attack gains range, deals extra damage, and shreds armor.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Decoy

Wukong enters stealth and leaves a clone of himself which deals damage after a few seconds.

E – Masochism

E – Nimbus Strike

Wukong dashes to an enemy, dealing damage to it and 2 enemies nearby and gaining attack speed.

R – Sadism

R – Cyclone

Wukong grows faster and starts to deal damage in a large area around him, knocking up all enemies.

Our Top Counter Tips For Wukong

Wukong will cast Decoy after casting Nimbus Strike in lane. Save your abilities until he comes out of Decoy.

Wukong’s Decoy deals damage. Don’t stand next to it.

You can tell that it’s a Decoy because he suddenly awkwardly stops moving.

Wukong’s Q reduces your armor. Fight him after the debuff runs out.

Having a pink ward will allow you to kill him if he tries to go invisible.

Champions That Counter Wukong

Your shrooms can affect him when he’s invisible. Use your blind on him when he dashes at you, as itmeans that he’ll most likely try to use his Q on you. Harass him.

Introduction

YOU’RE READING THIS VOLIBEAR GUIDE, MY WAY. VOLIBEAR IS THE BEST JUNGLER, TOP LANER, AND SUPPORT IN THE GAME. LOOK AT THIS CRAZY BEAR! DROPPING BOMBS ON THOSE ENEMIES. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! THAT’S REAL LIGHTNING THERE! OF COURSE, WE ALL KNOW HE’S NOT AS GOOD AS THE ‘DYR BUT HOW ELSE ARE YOU GOING TO BE ABLE TO TOWER DIVE AT LEVEL 3 AND SURVIVE? HOW ELSE WOULD YOU BE ABLE TO LOCK AN ENEMY IN PLACE WHILE YOU POUND ON THEM WITH YOUR ULTIMATE? WHAT OTHER CHAMPION LETS YOU EXECUTE SOMEONE BASED ON YOUR HEALTH?

Volibear is a tanky fighter who has very strong base stats, but falls off late game. He excels in early game skirmishes.

In order to stop Volibear from soloing your entire team after getting 7 kills in laning phase, you need to know what weaknesses he has and how to exploit his cheese. In this guide, I’ll be helping you send this bear back to the Freljord.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Chosen of the Storm

When below 30% health, Volibear gains a huge heal.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Rolling Thunder

Volibear goes on all fours, making him run faster and making his next basic attack flip the enemy over his head.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Frenzy

Volibear gains attack speed on each auto attack. After 3 auto attacks, he gains the ability to cast Frenzy, which deals more damage the less health the enemy has.

E – Masochism

E – Majestic Roar

Volibear roars, dealing damage to all enemies nearby and slowing champions but fearing all minions and monsters.

R – Sadism

R – Thunder Claws

Volibear’s basic attacks start spreading lightning to all nearby enemies, dealing damage.

Our Top Counter Tips For Volibear

If you’re farming top, Volibear can flip you into his minions. If you try to try to trade, the minions will kill you. If you try to walk away, Volibear will get a free trade on you. Be very wary of this cheese.

Volibear can trade with you in your minions because he can fear them away.

Volibear is very good at sustained trades, with his execute, heal, and his bonus damage on auto attacks.

You can tell if Volibear’s passive is down by clicking on him and checking out his debuffs.

Volibear is not good at pushing fast. Try getting a champion who can push him in.

Volibear’s ultimate gives him the equivalent of two BF Swords extra on each of his auto attacks. Don’t fight him when that’s on.

Volibear is easy to kite late game. You have to make sure you pick a few champs with CC.

The Black Cleaver
Blade of the Ruined King Cho’Gath Counter Item

Introduction

You’re feeling pretty good about the game so far. You’ve done one successful gank up top where you got a kill and you blew flash on the enemy mid laner. You’ve just finished your first jungle upgrade and you debate getting boots when suddenly you see the enemy bot lane on low health. Eager for a kill, you start to make your way bot. As you go bot, you debate the possibility of a counter gank. There’s no way; the enemy Shyvana has just been farming all early game. Surely she wouldn’t be proactive and counter gank? You wait in a bush and hope the enemy laners push up a little. Suddenly at the far end of your fog of war you see Shyvana barreling towards your bot lane. You quickly check her items and gasp. Somehow she’s already finished her jungle item in 6 minutes. Your bot lane starts to run away, but she only laughs and transforms into a dragon. You flash under your turret, knowing you’ll be safe under there. You cry as your friends are slaughtered by the dragon just inches from turret safety. Then you look up. Shyvana is standing right there, burning and shaking off the turret bolts like they were drops of rain. You die. She runs away. You hear “Enemy Triple Kill!” then a minute later “The enemy has slain the Dragon!”

Shyvana is a tanky fighter with high base damage and great initiation. She’s great at jumping into an enemy team and running towards its back line, dealing damage to everyone around her as she does it.

In order to stop Shyvana from overrunning your team with her incredibly base stats, you have to take advantages of her weaknesses and know how to stop her from advancing. In this guide, I’ll be teaching you how to send this dragon back to Westeros.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Dragonborn

Shyvana gains bonus armor and magic resistance with levels, which doubles when she’s in Dragon form.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Twin Bite

Human Form: Shyvana’s next basic attack strikes twice, dealing bonus damage, and triggering on-hit effects twice.

Dragon Form: Twin Bite damages all enemies around Shyvana’s primary target.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Burnout

Human Form: Shyvana surrounds herself in flame, dealing damage to all nearby enemies and gaining movement speed. Each time she auto attacks, the effect lasts a little longer.

Dragon Form: Shyvana leaves flame on the ground behind her, which continually deals the same magic damage to enemies that pass over it.

E – Masochism

E – Flame Breath

Human Form: Shyvana throws a fireball which deals magic damage and marks enemies for 5 seconds. Basic attacks against marked enemies deal 2.5% of their maximum health as bonus magic damage.

Dragon Form: Shyvana breathes fire on all enemy units in a cone in front of Shyvana.

R – Sadism

R – Dragons Descent

While in human form, Shyvana’s basic attacks gain fury. At max fury stacks, she gains the ability to become a dragon.

Active: Shyvana launches herself in a target direction, transforming into a dragon, carrying forwards all enemy units and dealing magic damage. She gains attack range in dragon form.

Our Top Counter Tips For Shyvana

Shyvana has no CC and is easy to kite.

Shyvana’s ultimate does a surprising amount of burst damage, so in 1v1 duels, be careful if you’re low on health and her fury bar is full.

In team fights, don’t cluster up, as all of Shyvana’s abilities do AOE damage.

If you’re marked, wait for the mark to fade out to trade with her. It’s free damage for her.

It’s possible to knock Shyvana out of her Dragon’s Descent. If you’re playing Lee Sin for example, simply press your ult on her when she’s coming closer if she’s out of range, and as soon as she comes into range, you’ll kick her away. This is difficult though, so make sure not to be pulled towards her.

Shyvana gains fury by basic attacking, so if you trade with her, make sure she doesn’t get too close to her ultimateform, where she becomes much stronger.

Shyvana as a jungler is generally a strong farmer and duelist. Try focusing on early ganks to snowball your lanes, because if you just farm or try to counter jungle her, she’ll simply outstat you.

Shyvana players often go Exhaust instead of Flash, so in duels be careful if she has Exhaust up.

Shyvana has no dashes apart from her ult, so the best way to tell if she’s ganking a lane is simply to place wards inthe river. She’ll slowly walk up.

Champions That Counter Shyvana

Graves

Graves

You can have an early impact ganking lanes, you farm just as well as her once you get an item, and induels, you can kite her. However, in most dueling situations she’ll still win if she can reach you, so be careful about dueling her if she has exhaust or red smite. Focus on early ganking lanes.

Volibear

Volibear

You can have an early pressure on lanes that she simply can’t match. In addition, you can duel decently when you have your passive up. Consider buying a ZZ’Rot Portal early to counter her dual damage sources.

Riven Nasus Counter Champion

Introduction

There are some champions that you just always see the enemy do better with. Your Shaco? Dies at his first buff because he started Q. Enemy Shaco? Mastery 7 jungler who takes all 4 buffs throughout the game and constantly jukes the enemy team. Lee Sin is one of those champions. He’s got a very high skill cap ceiling, as can be demonstrated by the numerous montages on Youtube. There’s nothing worse than the feeling of being secure behind your front line only to have the enemy Lee pull some ridiculous combo to fly across half the map and knock you straight into the hands of the enemy team. Lee is a jungler with high early game pressure who transitions into a utility tank late game. Although he can be played as an assassin, this generally works far better at lower elos, where the players don’t know how to take advantage of his weaknesses. However, in this guide, I’ll be teaching you how to beat him and make sure that this monk goes deaf and dumb.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Flurry

After using an ability, Lee Sin’s next two basic attacks gain attack speed and regain energy.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Sonic Wave/Resonating Strike

Lee throws out a sonic bolt, dealing a small amount of damage and tagging an enemy. If he recasts this ability, he dashes to the tagged target, dealing physical damage that increases based on the target’s missing health.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Safeguard/Iron Will

Lee dashes to a friendly ally or ward. If the ally is a champion, both they and Lee gain a shield. If he recasts this ability, he gains bonus life steal and spell vamp for a few seconds.

E – Masochism

E – Tempest/Cripple

Lee smashes all enemies near him, dealing damage and gaining true sight. If he recasts this ability, all enemies hit by Tempest are slowed for 4 seconds.

R – Sadism

R – Dragons Rage

Lee kicks an enemy champion, dealing physical damage and knocking them back. All enemies they hit also take the damage and are knocked up. The damage to secondary targets increases based on the bonus health of the original target.

Our Top Counter Tips For Lee Sin

Don’t duel Lee Sin if you’re squishy. He has a lot of burst damage.

Lee’s Q is an execute. If he lands the first portion, the second half of the ability does extra damage if you’re low on health.

Lee can kick your tanks into you, dealing extra damage. Don’t stand directly in the path of your tanks, or you’ll be in the front line, knocked up and low on health.

Lee Sin can ward hop. This requires him to have wards however.

If you’re a champion with stealth (Teemo, Twitch, etc), he can remove your stealth with his Q and E.

Lee needs to auto attack midcombo in order to get energy back. If he’s low on energy, kite him and hewon’t be able to cast any abilities.

Lee can cheese you at your first buff if he starts on Blue Side. He’ll smite red and come for the first blood. Just ward up or start at your blue buff.

Champions That Counter Lee Sin

The Voidreaver - Kha'Zix is one of a couple of Champions coming from the enigmatic region of The Void. He boasts high damage at all stages of the game and a very adaptable playstyle depending on how the game is turning out thanks to his evolve mechanic. Kha'Zix is an attack damage assassin, he'll look to snowball ahead in the early game by picking people off, and will likely transition to the mid game to a more splitpush role if he did manage to get ahead, thus applying pressure in the side lanes, giving his team more gold, and eventually forcing one or more people to come deal with him or else risk losing too many objective to recover from.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Unseen Threat

Kha'Zix gains Unseen Threat when the enemy team loses Sight of him, causing his next basic attack against an enemy champion to deal bonus magic damage and slow them.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Taste Their Fear

PASSIVE: Kha'Zix marks all visible enemies who aren't accompanied by any of their allies nearby as Isolated.

ACTIVE: Kha'Zix slashes the target enemy, dealing physical damage, increased by 30% against isolated targets.

EVOLVED ENLARGED CLAWS: Kha'Zix gains 50 bonus range on his basic attacks and Taste Their Fear, which also deals bonus physical damage to Isolated targets.

EVOLVED SPIKE RACKS: Void Spike fires three clusters in a cone, slows by 50% and grants sight of enemy champions hit for 2 seconds. Multiple explosions do not deal extra damage to the same target or provide Kha'Zix with additional healing

E – Masochism

E – Leap

Kha'Zix leaps to the target location, dealing physical damage to nearby enemies upon landing.

EVOLVED WINGS: Leap gains range and its cooldown is reset on enemy champion takedowns.

R – Sadism

R – Void Assault

PASSIVE: Each rank in Void Assault allows Kha'Zix to evolve one of his abilities, granting it additional effects.

ACTIVE: Kha'Zix enters Void Assault 2 stealth for 1 second, acquiring Unseen Threat, gaining bonus movement speed, and ghosting while stealthed. - After 2 seconds of leaving stealth, and for the next 15 seconds, Void Assault can be cast a second time at no additional cost.

Our Top Counter Tips For Kha'Zix

Kha'Zix is the definition of a "1v1 Me" champion. He gains damage from fighting you if you're alone, unfortunately for him, there are towers, minions and four other champions that don't want to see you die. Keep an easy escape to any of these things, and Kha'Zix becomes a great deal weaker in any of fight.

Kha'Zix isn't tanky early, that means in the early game, he has one of two options. Take his own buffs and do a standard clear, or take one buff, and come try and fight you at yours. He probably won't do the second one, just because of how much damage he takes, and how much time he can waste, however, if you're a strong counter jungler, you can find and kill him. Any tank or high damage-early pressure jungler will give Kha'Zix a hard time and force him to run in early engagements.

Kha'Zix is an AD Caster, that means he's reliant on having abilities up. Some of these abilities have extremely long cooldowns, such as Leap and Void Assault. For every ability down, Kha'Zix becomes weaker. The only cooldown he has that's up more than two times in a one on one fightearly is Taste Their Fear, and that doesn't do enough damage alone to kill most standard junglers.

Champions That Counter Kha'Zix

Volibear

Volibear

If you've ever watched this matchup you now how sad it can be. Volibear has a lot of health to begin with, and with the health scaling damage on his W, he just doesn't care about fighting Kha'Zix. He's also another one of those champions with pretty decent ganks at levels 3+and can pressure out summoner spells for his team, certainly outpressuring a level 3 Kha'Zix. Volibear sustains well in the jungle, and with his passive, has the option of just looking for Kha'Zix and beating him senseless in his own jungle, since Kha will never win an early one on one against the bear.

Elise Amumu Counter Champion

Elise

Elise just doesn't ever have to be isolated. The moment she becomes a spider, she has spiderlings that prevent isolation, and also beat on Kha'Zix in any early one on one. She sustains through the jungle better than he could ever hope to and has high base damages besides. She's an early pressure jungler so she also has the option of playing standard and simply making alarger impact than him, snowballing her lanes and winning the game for her team while he struggles to become as relevant.

LeeSin Zac Counter Champion

Lee Sin

You’re a top lane mage, which is a huge counter to Kennen. You can trade evenly, but you can ult him so that he can’t jump into your team and ult. This is a skill matchup. Build Abyssal if you’re losing, Rod of the Ages if you two are trading evenly.

Gnar Illaoi Counter Champion

Gragas

Even with the nerfs, Gragas still comes in with CC, damage reduction, superior sustain and a lot of early damage on both W and Q. Not only does this allow him to take On Kha'Zix in early one on ones but at level six and above, he can even peel Kha'Zix off of his teammates using his explosive cask, causing the bug to lose one of his biggest strengths: The freedom to choose all of his fights.

Randuin's Omen

Being against an AD Assassin, it's best to itemize armor. Randuins Omen has a lot of value in any matchup against Kha'Zix, it can hinder his chase potential if his jump is down. Cinderhulk is obviously worth building on any tank, and the multiplicative health passive makes it even better against Kha'Zix, along with the Bami's Cinder passive giving extra damage against him for being too close. Skirmishers is a good item to build in solo que, or if you intend to get a sightstone in organized play, as the Challenging Smite reveals Kha'Zix for four seconds and increases your damage against him.

Introduction

Meet Jarvan IV, Demacian royalty and a, usually, very tanky man. Jarvan is an early pressure jungler that can do a lot of damage with his abilities and passive, especially in the early to midgame. He transitions into a teamfighting initiator in the late game, as he becomes tanky enough tosurvive the damage from the front line and possibly spread his damage an entire team with an ultimate at best, and slowing people with his W at worst, while threatening the backline.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Martial Cadence

Basic attacks deal bonus physical damage. This effect cannot occur on the same target more than once every few seconds.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Dragon Strike

Jarvan IV extends his lance in a straight line, dealing physical damage to all enemies it passes through and reducing their armor for 3 seconds. If the lance connects with a deployed Demacian Standard, Jarvan IV dashes to it, knocking up nearby enemies along his path for 0.75 seconds.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Golden Aegis

Jarvan IV Slow icon slows all nearby enemies for 2 seconds as well as shielding himself for up to 5 seconds, with the shield increasing in strength for each enemy champion hit by Golden Aegis..

E – Masochism

E – Demacian Standard

PASSIVE - Jarvan IV permanently has bonus attack speed.

ACTIVE - Jarvan IV throws a Demacian flag to the target location, dealing magic damage to all nearby enemies. The flag then remains for 8 seconds, granting Sight icon sight around it and providing an aura that grants Demacian Standard's bonus attack speed to all nearby allied champions.

R – Sadism

R – Cataclysm

Jarvan IV leaps to an enemy champion, becoming immune to crowd control during the duration and dealing physical damage to nearby enemies upon arrival. Upon impact, he creates a circle of impassable terrain for 3.5 seconds that grants Sight icon sight around it. Jarvan IV can reactivate Cataclysm to instantly destroy the circle.

Our Top Counter Tips For Jarvan

Jarvan's threat level is significantly lowered when either his E or Q is on cooldown. In the top lane, positioning yourself around the minion wave to ensure that trades he takes are sub optimal, and then extending the trade while both his CC combo and escape are down will ensure dominant position in lane.

Jarvan is reliant on his E and Q for everything, in the jungle, scouting out his buffs and getting histimers all but ensures you catch him with his abilities down, playing a strong counterjungler forthat situation is optimal.

If he uses his E on a minion, immediately do a short trade with him, as that’s a big part of his burst.

Despite how tanky he becomes, early he has a hard time competing with the damage the jungle monsters put out. Something like an Elise or Lee Sin can catch him in his jungle, and considering how much of his damage is in his E-Q Combo can kill him before he has a chance to run away, setting him behind.

Jarvan loses out to anything more mobile than himself. Things that can get out of his ultimate and force him to use his abilities to try and chase them down beat Jarvan. In this way, playing back until he blows his abilities and then punishing him is a viable strategy.

Champions that build sunfire cape make life hard for the Exemplar of Demacia, building it and forcing him to take damage for standing near you, along with your own damage will cause him to start losing trades, especially given the armor and health you gain from the item.

Champions That Counter Jarvan

Gnar Illaoi Counter Champion

Gnar

Gnar is a pretty strong laner, period. Before 6, Jarvan has to E-Q to get in harass distanceof Gnar, and if you're positioned correctly, you won't get hit by the knockup. The rest is just kiting back and getting hyper procs from your W. At/Post 6, lane is over for Jarvan. Gnar will have a Frozen Mallet, and his ultimate. If Jarvan engages, Gnar kites him back and with the slow from the Mallet, Jarvan will want to run away. However, he cannot do that, because Gnar picks up hyper procs as well. Jarvan just dies over and over at that point.

Trundle Xin Zhao Counter Champion

Trundle

Jarvan wants to duel? So does the Troll King, and Trundle is far better at it. Trundle's passive always gets him better trades and sustains far better as a result of his passive. He steals Jarvan's stats in any fight, and if a fight goes south for Jarvan, he can even interrupt his escape, forcing a flash at best. Post 6 Trundles has an ultimate made for dueling, an AOE dueling field, a stat stealing bite and a pillar to prevent any escapes. Jarvan just has the damage that's being stolen from him by a troll. Most typically this lane ends with a couple of deaths on Jarvans side, followed by a fed Trundle splitpushing their team to victory.

Nasus Counter Tips 2

Nasus

I know people like to claim that Nasus has no good lane matchups, but he does. The oneswith obvious poke and engage windows are easy for Nasus. Jarvan is about as obvious as it gets. Nasus gets to lane, begins to farm, and starts an Iceborn Gauntlet, coming back with a GlacialShroud if things are going poorly, and a Sheen if things are going well. With the Shroud, Jarvan doesn't likely kill you, especially with your passive, and at about 10-12 minutes (Depending onhow well you farm) you begin to out damage him. He comes at Nasus with burst, and Nasus hit'sR > W > E > Q > Q > Q...You get the picture. Jarvan has to run and Nasus is already busy farming and lifestealing to full, while using his corrupting potion.

Nunu

Nunu

Not good at killing things, simply good at taking everything the enemy jungler loves and making sure they can't have it. Nunu has both the sustain and Neutral objective pressure required to make Jarvans life hard. He can eat his camps, and take his buffs. Then he can just walk away as if it never happened. Nunu is good at setting a jungle Jarvan behind and has the perma slow power to allow his team to punish an invading Jarvan.

LeeSin Dr Mundo Counter Champion

Lee Sin

A master at counterjungling, Lee Sin can manhandle Jarvan early, finding him at his second buff, with the right information, and killing him, from then on, it's easy for a Lee Sin to keep control of Jarvan's buffs and control of neutral objectives for his team. By the team Jarvan is back in the game, both champions have transition to tank and Lee Sin has made a far larger impact by virtue of being ahead.

Sunfire Cape

Itemizing against Jarvan is simple, his damage is all physical, so buy a lot of armor. Even with the armor shred on his Q, buying more armor will quickly outscale the shred. Frozen Heart is a good item to counter his Demacian Standards attack speed bonus and Randuins is a good item to stophim from running or chasing you, it also decreases the damage taken from his passive empowered auto attacks. Sunfire Cape is a good item to cause him to think twice about tradingwith you, given his melee range, and makes damaging him easier in a tank top matchup.

Introduction

You’re heading to the teamfight mid. You’ve got your summoners and you’re full health and ready to rumble.Suddenly you see a blink at the corner of your screen. Instantly Hecarim charges at you, destroying your health bar in less than a second. He then uses his ultimate mid, scattering your team. As they try to scurry under your turret for safety, he follows them, ignoring the turret shots as if they were flies. He kills them all. Then he steals your blue buff. You sigh and look at the timer. It’s 11 minutes into the game…

Hecarim is a fighter with an exceptional midgame. He’s very good at initiating and has good base tank stats, so he can build damage without being a glass cannon..

In order to tame this pony, you’re going to need to read my guide.

Abilities

Passive – Adrenaline Rush

Passive – Warpath

Hecarim gains bonus attack damage based on his bonus movement speed.

Q – Infected Cleaver

Q – Rampage

Hecarim deals damage to all nearby enemies. If he hits at least one enemy, the cooldown is reduced.

W – Burning Agony (Toggle)

W – Spirit of Dread

Hecarim deals damage to all enemies nearby and is healed for 20% of all damage they take.

E – Masochism

E – Devastating Charge

Hecarim is ghosted and gains movement speed over 4 seconds, growing faster each second. His next basic attack gains bonus attack range and knocks back his target, dealing extra damage.

R – Sadism

R – Onslaught Of Shadows

Hecarim charges, fearing all enemies at the end of his charge and dealing damage. He is immune to crowd control during this ability.

Our Top Counter Tips For Hecarim

Once Hecarim gets his first jungle item, he’s a huge pressure. He’s tanky, duels well, and deals tons of damage with his E + Ghost combo. This is his major power spike. It’s at this point that you have to just farm safely and try not to start fights.

Hecarim deals a lot of damage with his ult. Don’t duel him if it’s up.

Hecarim heals more the more enemies are around.

When warding, ward far up the river, as he’ll run in so quickly that wards in nearby bushes won’t help much.

Hecarim falls off late game. He still initiates well, but his damage falls off. If the enemy is playing movement speed Hecarim, don’t feel bad if he gets really fed. At some point he’ll just start to feed.

Introduction

There’s always something you can do as a carry to avoid damage. You can always dodge an ability or keep your distance or effectively kite your enemy. Not against Vi. From halfway across the lane, she’s going to press one ability, then permalock you in CC while her team destroys you.

During the early game, she’s going to be able to gank your lanes from angles you didn’t even think were possible, and if she snowballs, she’s as good as any assassin.

If behind, she’s got decent utility with her ult. If you’re playing ADC, make sure you pick someone with a dash, or else you’re destroyed. If you’re playing Jinx and she’s picked Vi after you, beg your support to play Nami.

Vi is the ultimate backline diver, with high damage, good CC and high mobility.

However, she’s got clearly defined weaknesses, like a slow clear and a need to snowball to be effective in the late game. In this guide I’ll teach you how to deal with this policewoman and remind her that #CarryLivesMatter.

Abilities

blast shield

Passive – Blast Shield

Blast Shield: Whenever Vi hurts an enemy with an ability, she gains a shield.

Q – Broken Wings

Q – Vault Breaker

Vi channels her charge, walking slowly. When she reactivates this ability, she charges forward, knocking back the first enemy hit and dealing damage.

W – Ki Burst

W – Denting Blows

Every 3 basic attacks, Vi deals extra damage, reduces enemy armor, and gains attack speed.

E – Valor

E – Excessive Force

Vi gains stacks over time. She can cast this ability to add AOE damage to her next basic attack.

R – Blade of the Exile

R – Assault and Battery

Vi charges at an enemy champion, avoiding all CC, knocking them up and dealing damage.

Our Top Counter Tips For Vi

Vi doesn’t have a very fast clear. If you’ve started on blue side, you can start red and kill her at her blue.

Vi has a very high early game burst. Try not to duel her early.

You can stun Vi while she’s charging her Vault Breaker.

Vi deals more damage once she’s popped her denting blows. Don’t duel her.

Save your disables until after Vi’s ultimate is finished casting.

If you’re low on health, Vi can cast Excessive Force and hit a minion wave, hitting you from a distance. Back off if you’re low.

Vi’s shield doesn’t last very long. Don’t trade until it’s worn off, as it won’t reappear for a long time.

Champions That Counter Vi

Kindred

Kindred

If you dodge her Vault Breaker early game, you should be able to kite her until you win an early skirmish. Because none of her abilities cast terribly fast, you’ll have time to react and cast your ultimate. It’s recommended that you invade her at her first buff.

Graves

Graves

You can kite her easily. However, you can’t catch her terribly easily, so it’s better to counter gank her than to invade her.

Olaf

Olaf

You simply outdamage her, and once she’s cast her Vault Breaker, she can’t run away from the permaslow from your axes. Your ult stops her ultimate from working.
